Save The Great South Bay leads a range of programs that protect and restore New York’s Great South Bay from creek to coast. Its Creek Defender Program empowers volunteers to clean and care for the creeks that feed into the Bay, removing pollution and restoring habitat. Through the Great South Bay Oyster Project, they are cultivating over 150,000 oysters annually in six community gardens, supporting water filtration and marine biodiversity across four sanctuary sites home to nearly a million restored oysters.
Save The Great South Bay’s Water Quality Monitoring Program collects vital data from South Shore tributaries to inform their forthcoming South Shore Bays Report Card, a science-based tool to track ecological health. Theyalso foster environmental literacy through engaging educational initiatives like the Speaker Series on climate change and coastal resilience,
