2025 REX FOUNDATION GRANT RECIPIENT
Based in Homewood, Illinois, the Homewood Arts Council (HAC) is dedicated to supporting and showcasing its community’s already deep passion for the visual, literary, musical and performing arts. It is building a network of artists, creating connections to cultivate, educate and celebrate its community of culture, and is committed to bringing people together for powerful shared experiences and to enriching and inspiring artists and audiences of all ages.
The HAC is the proud recipient of a grant from the Rex Foundation. In collaboration with Homewood School District 153, the grant, ON THE RECORD, will sponsor a field trip for the James Hart Chamber Orchestra to experience a full-day professional recording session at Electrical Audio, the studio founded by legendary Chicago recording engineer and musician Steve Albini.
HAC feels that On The Record perfectly pays tribute to Steve’s vision of Electrical Audio as a communal space in the Chicago music scene for all musicians, young and old, but also aligns with the ideals the Rex Foundation has towards empowering students to discover all the potential that music can offer.
