2018 REX FOUNDATION GRANTEE
The world’s oceans are vast and threatened, and communities who depend on the oceans are losing their livelihoods and unique cultures. OneReef is dedicated to applying global solutions and local actions to protect these reefs into the future. It is successfully achieving this mission by helping develop marine conservation agreements (MCAs) among reef owners, local conservation groups, and global funders that allow communities to implement science-based marine protected areas (MPAs). OneReef protects coral reef ecosystems and the communities that depend on them by establishing partnerships between local stewards and a global community willing to invest in their conservation efforts.
