Jesse McReynolds

We were so sorry to learn of the passing of bluegrass legend Jesse McReynolds earlier this month, and send our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.

Back in 2010, McReynolds released a CD paying tribute to the songs of Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia — including a collaboration of his own with Hunter. One thing led to another, and that year he headlined The Wheel: A Celebration of the Music of Jerry Garcia at the Fillmore, Rex’s annual benefit concert.

It was epic. Blair Jackson wrote about it on Dead.net. And the tracks found their way onto the Rex benefit CD/download The Wheel.

On the eve of the show, we were able to interview McReynolds about it all, and the interview is now available in the Archives.
