By now, you may have heard about Dead Letters, Paul Grushkin’s new book that’s just starting to hit bookstore shelves. (Paul, you’ll remember, co-authored Grateful Dead: The Official Book of the Dead Heads, a definitive classic that endured for 26 years and 16 printings…) It’s all about the fabulously decorated envelopes in which Dead Heads poured out their love as they communicated with the folks in the ticket office. The book preserves hundreds of examples of this colorful and infinitely varied fan art, with decades’ worth of examples residing at the Grateful Dead Archive in Santa Cruz but with new ones being created every day.
We are delighted to report that Paul and the kind folks at Barnes & Noble in Walnut Creek, California, have put together a special Dead Letters event in support of Rex on Thursday, November 3, at 6 p.m. Paul will be telling tales, sharing memories, and signing copies of Dead Letters. As part of Barnes & Nobles’ Rex Bookfair, present this coupon with your purchase and a portion of the price of each sale goes to Rex.
(Can’t be there? Order online on November 3 as part of the Bookfair and present the code on the Rex coupon at checkout, and Rex will receive the credit too. A percentage of all B&N merchandise sales—books, CDs, DVDs, etc.—made with the Rex voucher number during the Bookfair period November 3-8 goes to Rex, so we appreciate any shopping you do on our behalf!)
Thanks so much to Paul and to B&N for their awesome support!
