The International Accountability Project (IAP) responds to the urgent need to create accountability in international development, to end unjust displacement and resettlement, and to leverage positive change within international finance institutions. Founded in 2003 by environmental justice lawyer Dana Clark, IAP has been instrumental in shaping environmental and social standards at international financial institutions such as the World Bank. In coalition with grassroots organizers in Asia, Latin America and the Pacific, IAP has provided legal and technical support to multiple communities in the Global South to demand accountability for violations of human and environmental rights and to promote development alternatives that reflect local priorities.
