The Richmond College Prep Preschool (RCPP) is engaged in a bold initiative to create and sustain a highly successful model preschool in Richmond, California, in one of the state’s most impoverished, inner-city neighborhoods, so the model can be replicated in urban environments across America.
The goal is to give the children who attend the Richmond College Prep Preschool all the educational resources, opportunities, and experiences usually provided to the children of wealthy communities. The vision is that with exposure to a high-intensity, high-quality, and high-expectation educational environment from an early age, students from impoverished neighborhoods will achieve at or above the learning standards typical of higher-income areas. The RCP Preschool is offered at no cost to participants. The school utilizes evidence-based best practices in teaching, learning, and school reform.
