Girls on the Run helps prepare young girls for a lifetime of healthy living and self-respect.
Girls on the Run (GOTR) Napa Valley is the local chapter of Girls on the Run International, whose mission is to educate and prepare young girls (ages 8-13) for a lifetime of healthy living and self-respect.
Through discussions and activities in twice weekly meetings over a 12-week period, girls build self-confidence by strengthening mind, spirit and body. Topics covered include nutrition, throwing away negative and self-defeating behaviors, inner beauty, accepting differences, active listening, stopping gossip and bullying, and community service.
The program ends with a 5 kilometer “fun run,” completion being part of each girl’s program goal. GOTR was identified as a beneficiary of the June 11, 2009 Silver Oak Cellars Rex Musical Caravan event.
