Dune Lankard of Eyak Preservation Council

The Eyak Preservation Council received grants from the Rex Foundation in 2006 and 2008 for its work in restoring salmon habitat in Alaska in the wake of the Exxon Valdez disaster.

Profiled this week  in Indian Country Today, founder Dune Lankard says of his work: “I believed if we could save the habitat we could preserve the fish and could preserve the traditional way of life. Traditional people could keep doing what we’ve done for thousands of years.”
